Shore Volleyball Academy Tryouts

Shore Volleyball Academy will be hosting tryouts for both our formal club teams, and our "training teams".

For 2026-27, Shore Volleyball Academy will be hosting the below teams:

- U-15 Girl's Club Team

- U-14 Girl's Club Team

- U-12's/13's Girl's Training Team

- Based on tryouts, Shore Volleyball Academy will either host an additional U-13 Girl's Club Team, or a second U-12's/13's Training team. This decision will be made based on the evaluations from tryouts and made with the best interests of our families in mind.

Prior to tryouts, athletes may join us in up to 2 of our "Meet and Play" free opportunities at our newest location, Superdome-Brick.

These dates will be play-based, but provide an opportunity to meet the club and coaches, learn more about our new U14's and U15's Club Teams, our continuing Winter Club Alternative Program Option, and "12/13's Training Team". Tryout dates for our U14's, U15's, and the 12/13's" Training team are below!

TRYOUTS

Athletes must register and are encouraged to attend the 1st tryout date for their age group. Registrants may participate in all tryout dates for their age group. Any athletes who desire to try out for an "older team" should contact us at ShoreVolleyballAcademy@gmail.com prior to registering.

Age definitions (chart below):

U-12: All girls born on or after July 1, 2014 (most rising 6th graders)

U-13: All girls born on or after July 1, 2013 (most rising 7th graders)

U-14: All girls born on or after July 1, 2012 (most rising 8th graders)

U-15: All girls born on or after July 1, 2011 (most rising 9th graders)

Tryout FAQ's:

What if my child cannot attend their assigned tryout date for their age?

Anyone with a scheduling issue should email us ASAP for alternative options.

What should your child wear to tryouts?

All athletes will receive a tryout number to pin to the back of their shirt, and are recommended to hang onto that number for all tryouts. We are not providing shirts and there are no requirements in terms of shirt color. Everyone in the same color makes it more difficult to differentiate and evaluate, so athletes are encouraged to wear whatever they want.

Can parents stay and watch tryouts?

Ofcourse, parents are welcome 100% of the time in our gym. Tryouts, practices, competitions; all are open. If clubs are operating the right way, they should have nothing to hide from their parents.

When will I know who my child's coach is?

Upon offering positions on rosters, you will be informed of which coach is assigned to your team. As we have coaches with children trying out, and others with possible connections to school teams, we do need to accomodate some internal needs when assigned coaches with teams.

What should I be considering when selecting a club or team?

How many athletes will be on the team (since only 6 are on the court at one time)? Who is the coach actually coaching my child, and what are their qualifications? What are the other "required costs" to particpate (gear, travel, memberships)? Is your child ready for this level of financial and time commitment?

What is the process after tryouts?

Shore Volleyball Academy will offer roster spots to those selected to the team, which will be sent to the email you registered with. To accept the offer, the registration form and deposit will need to be completed. Those who are non-responsive, or fail to deposit, would be passed over for their spot. This process could take some time, as Shore Volleyball Academy needs to appropriately review tryout results, as well as provide families time to consider the opportunity. Shore Volleyball Academy will be offering 70-80% of the roster spots now, with a supplemental tryout in November to complete the rosters. Athletes who do not make a team in August have the opportunity to tryout again in November, or join us at another clinic or our winter club alternative program. Our clinics and club alternative programs are run by our Directors with college coaching level experience. Shore Volleyball Academy would never turn anyone away from our programming.

Tryout Fee: $40 (includes insurance, gym fee's, and participation in ALL tryouts for your age group- including the supplemental November tryout).
